The call of the wilderness — Tyrell Wilkinson of Noxon

There are many lessons to be learned from the wilderness in today’s society, a place to get away or a recreational area use for so many activities that wouldn’t be possible with out reserved land for wild life and plants to grow. Survival of the fittest and surviving on your own with out the luxuries of modern society, I think the wilderness has many lessons to teach people if they take the time to look and see.

In the wilderness just one out of the many lessons to be learned would be survival of the fittest, animals don’t make it through their tough day to day life with out being strong enough to take on the challenges they are face with everyday. This method of survival can be transferred to many things in normal American life, working hard every day there will be bumps and bruises along the way, not everyday will be perfect. You still keep pushing on through endless obstacles throughout our busy lives. In Athletics survival of the fittest is a big lesson learned from nature and wildlife. Like the wolf it is a fierce hunter feared by all animals below it on the food chain, the wolf hunts in packs because they know alone they won’t be successful hunting, but together they are feared by everyone as a team they can take down any thing they desire to prey on. In football its the same concept it’s a physical sport by yourself you are nothing but together you can sure do some damage.

The wilderness is a place of calm, and quiet, a secluded area to do activities, hunting hiking fishing. People in cities very rarely have the opportunity to do those things and learn life lessons such as surviving without your day to day luxuries. If a person from New York came to a place like Noxon and tried to survive without thing provided for them they wouldn’t stand a chance, because they haven’t been lucky enough to have the learning opportunities like we have, growing up in a place surrounded by wilderness and being enrolled in a school completely consumed by hunting, fishing and activities in the great outdoors.

People today are so engulfed in technology, always waiting for the next invention like 3D television or the newest i-phone they don’t take the time to look and see what a great opportunities we have to learn from the wild or the great outdoors, I mean how lucky are we were we live in a place like Noxon we are completely surrounded by wilderness with plenty of chances learn life lessons everyday and we should all take advantage of that chance.

I think there are so many lessons the wilderness has to teach the civilized world, far to many to mention them all in this essay. Weather it be observing animals such as the great wolf learning how to work as a team to hunt and together take down any obstacle, just like we did on the football field every day . Maybe its going camping, getting away from all the things provided for us that make life so easy and taking learning how to survive without those luxuries. The wilderness has many lessons to teach and as citizens in a place like Noxon we need to take advantage of those learning opportunities, as should the rest of the world.
