We would like to congratulate Jerry Brown on a well deserved retirement after 36 years of service as a wildlife biologist for the Montana Department of Fish Wildlife and Parks!
Based in Libby Montana, Jerry has worked in Northwestern Montana for virtually his entire career. No one knows the Cabinet and West Cabinet Mountains better than Jerry! Managing big, and smaller, game and their habitats has taken Jerry on top of every peak and into every valley, basin and draw in this region.
And no one knows the Mountain Goats in these parts as well as Jerry either. Among his many projects over the decades Jerry has managed the herd of Mountain Goats which call the Scotchmans home. Going back to the field studies in the late 1970’s to the augmentation project shortly after and continuing with overflight surveys today, these mountain goats truly are “Jerry’s Kids”!
In a testimony to the many people who are interested in his work and the success Jerry has had, over 80 people turned out last Saturday in Libby to attend a retirement party put on by the Libby Rod and Gun club in conjunction with the department of Fish Wildlife and Parks.
The Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness were there and we proudly presented Jerry with a framed photo of one of the Mountain Goat families who live in the Scotchmans today, thanks to Jerry.
